Red Dresses and First Dates

By Kay E.

First dates can end up as a memorial day or can end up as a “what was I thinking” moment. Even though we are unaware of the results we definitely want to make an impression and one of the best ways is wearing a flattering red dress. Red dresses attract attention and add a little flare to any outfit which is definitely a plus for a first date. Grabbing the attention of the date with the first look definitely helps the attraction level.

When friends ask what dress to wear on a first date, I always look through their wardrobe to find a red shaded frock that has some details such as ruffles, ribbing, and others that add little zones to the eye. The extra detail allows more visual sections and sometimes will soften areas. With so many shades of red, there is just a wide combination of outfits to assemble that match any number of accessories including shoes, bracelets, and purses. For friends without a decent red dress, shopping is always a fun event. I was asked to find three red dresses and it was hard with so many styles to choose from but the three below provide enough difference to match a wide range of attitudes and individual tastes.

First Date Ready Dresses

urban outfitters red dress Urban Outfitters has some gorgeous dresses I found this maroon colored sweater would look great on a more upscale date. The dress is cut short slightly above the knees with a tunic silhouette and offers a tailored fit which is always flattering. The quarter sleeves with the cuffing detail and the V-neck add visual appeal. The detail I love most is the knit ribbing at the waist. This dress is ready to go and accessories can be added but don’t overdo it or face ruining a classy piece.
kors red babydoll dress I found this flirty red babydoll dress by Michael Kors that combines the flattering style of the babydoll with a crew neckline. The dress is perfect for flashier attitudes but still capable of being worn to almost any event. The gathering under the empire waistline will really look great on most women by masking the real waistline and making you appear taller to some eyes. Accessorizing with gold and silver will work well here and black shoes always compliment well.
jcrew red cecelia dress The last dress I dug up is very versatile in fit, form, and fashion and I fell in love with it at first site which hopefully will happen to everyone on their first dates. It is such a classy and smooth design which really conforms with the silk tricotine. The simple design with a crossover V-neck, short capped sleeves, and fluttering hemline makes it ideal for anything from a first date to an office party.
Hopefully these red dresses will relieve some of the trouble of selecting a dress for a first date for women and spur some very good ideas.
