White Dresses
The Chic White Dress
When it comes to wearing white, especially dresses, there are a lot of words that can describe the overall appearance including pure, angelic, soft and of course chic. White dresses are one of the main three colors along with red and black that really become hot trends throughout the year and spring and summer are usually the time when white dresses become hot commodities. Like the little black dress, white dresses are ultra-fashionable through simplicity by providing a lovely look with simple colors and additional features. A plain white dress or one with contrasting colors in small locations will create a very flattering combination. An example is a spaghetti strap dress with silhouette sheath combined with a black hem lining or black lining at the top. This creates a beautiful dress that is simple but very chic and complimentary. White is also not plain white seen on paper but can vary in little shades like ivory, cream, and chalk white. This allows dresses to take on small variations that still make a difference on the overall appearance, especially when accessorizing. Ivory dresses look very gorgeous when left in a solid color. White dresses also go very well with different fabrics, especially plain old cotton which spruces up in white and seems to make the dress a lively piece at barbecues and picnics. A white silk dress is also a great selection for summer days. White dresses are also known for being extremely memorable as well. The dress from Marilyn Monroe's famous picture with the wind blowing her dress was a white one and the dress Sharon Stone wore in her movie that made a shocking splash was also a white one. White dresses are just as popular as other dresses and have become a fashionable piece of women’s wardrobes.

No Plain White Dress
The white is very complimentary with different fabrics, styles, and dresses. The plain white dress does a great job by itself with combinations of necklines and silhouettes but white frocks seems to have an edge when it comes to romantic designs like adding sequins, beads, or lace. White dresses also are flattering with stripes, bows, and other accessories. White cocktail dresses also look great with different designs but white evening dresses seem to have a natural alluring look. The additional details enhance a simple plain white dress and transform it into a unique creation that brings out a beautiful style. This also goes for old Victorian style dresses that always seem to look much better in white than any other colors. White Victorian style dresses have the natural antic, romantic aura and these designs are delivered through to individual styles. This is why wedding dresses are white and formal white dresses are really favored for social gatherings as well. Worn plain or with different designs and accessories, white dresses definitely offer charming presentations.

There are some instances where the white dress is not considered following the proper etiquette. Many customs regard black as a mourning color and wearing white is considered disrespectful. However, there are a few cultures that regard white as a mourning color and those related to the deceased can wear white. Wearing white dresses during a wedding when you’re not the bride is also considered very disrespectful as only the bride or other wedding participants are supposed to be the only ones in white. There is also the old saying of not to wear white after Labor Day which can be deduced as not wanting people to wear popular summer fashions usually in white during the fall and winter or to wear clothing that keeps heat retained during the cold season. Other than that white dresses usually fit for any occasions and actually look much lovelier for some occasions unless the dress code calls for more color.
